Welcome to the second phase of the Space 2099 project called "Moonbase Alpha's Legacy". For the past year, we have been working on this possible sequel series of Space: 1999/2099 and we are now happy to present for the first time the concept to you. After hundreds of replies from the fans on a short survey we did this past year, we came to the conclusion that the best way to achieve their wishes for the revival of the series is in the form of a sequel television movie event. No reboot, re-imagining or remake, but rather a more comprehensive and respectful production that would capture the best of the original Space: 1999 series in a new contemporary fashion. Simply the best of both worlds. We think that we have achieved that objective with "Legacy". You may have even more questions after going through the site as it is composed only of the basic elements of the project for now, but I can assure you that "Legacy" is the answer you have been waiting for 40 years.

Moonbase Alpha's Legacy takes its origin from the cult television series Space: 1999. Produced from late 1973 through early 1977, it was created by none other than Gerry and Sylvia Anderson who had previously produced such series like Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and UFO. Sold in more than eighty countries, Space: 1999 was THE definitive science fiction series of the seventies. Starring Oscar Award winner, Martin Landau and Emmy award winner, Barbara Bain, the series was produced in England by ITV and Group Three production.
The first series was an incredible journey into the unknown as it followed the adventures of the men and women of Moonbase Alpha, a highly technologically advanced complex located in one of the craters of the Moon which is ripped from its orbit around Earth by a series of huge nuclear explosions sending them into an uncharted area of space. While the first series was a great success in many countries it was also considered by some as having some stories that were unclear, open-ended and/or too cerebral for television.
Its production values, its unique style, genre and stories are but a few of the reasons why Space: 1999 is still much talked about and appreciated 35 years after its original production ended. With dozens active websites devoted to Space: 1999, dozens of new books for sale, models and more recently a return into the comic book market, Space: 1999 has experienced a renaissance of late and is anything but a forgotten series.
In 2008, Retcon Studios began moving forward on a two-phase project. The first phase is to enhance the original series into Space 2099. The intention was not only to bring the series stories into a new future, in 2099, but also with the use of the original footage, to enhance the editing, pacing, special effects and the chronology of the episodes and to correct inconsistencies in the series development and strengthen the underlying story arcs, all in a new exclusive 16:9 format ratio to match with contemporary television productions. Its structure and guidelines now complete, Retcon Studios hopes that this new, enhanced edition of Space: 1999 released as Space 2099 will see the light of day in a near future.
Meanwhile, Retcon Studios is now turning its full attention to the second phase of the project, Space 2099: Moonbase Alpha's Legacy. As the original stories of Space: 1999 never had an proper ending and left many questions unanswered, Retcon Studios is now proposing a movie made-for-television as a bridge between the original cast and a new generation allowing for the conclusion of the Space 2099 saga and the beginning of a new one in a sequel series called Legacy.
On September 14th, 2099, Earth's moon was ripped out of its orbit by an unknown force that propelled it into an uncharted area of interstellar space.
The three-hundred plus inhabitants of what was known as Moonbase Alpha were left to fight for their existence... until eight years later when they found a new home... the planet Terra Nova.
The Moons trajectory carried it away from this world, only to return thirty-three years later... finding a thriving colony of almost a thousand inhabitants. But the Moon's return was also the portent of doom of this fledgling civilization, as its second passing could possibly tear this fragile world apart.
Inspired by the story written by the late Johnny Byrne in 1999, Moonbase Alpha's Legacy takes a second look at his vision by adapting its premise to a now possible continuity television event. Legacy is not only there to revisit the characters of the series, but rather to complete the circle of its unfinished mystery that left us with many unresolved questions for which the fans hoped someday there might finally be some answers.
In our effort to reintroduce classic motion pictures and television programming to todays modern audiences, Retcon Studios has gathered expertise from different locations around the world, all talented individuals that share our common goal.
Throughout the late 1960's to early 1990's, many exceptional works were created during this time period which now suffer when compared to modern programming, mostly due to issues outside of their production control. Budgetary constraints, limitations of visual effects, outmoded musical styles, dated clothing or props, and the change in audience tastes and complexities have all led to brilliant works of storytelling to be pushed aside by content providers.
With the utmost respect for original content, our team is intent on renewing these classic works with a contemporary feel and look by correcting inconsistencies within the story narratives, by re-editing works for appropriate pacing and by replacing or enhancing visual effects and other elements. This resulting hybrid of old and new will entice a previous audience to watch the work again, while also giving a modern audience the ability to appreciate the same work.
The advent of high-definition television and content portalling has put media providers and copyright holders of older content in a difficult situation with these parties seeking to develop innovative and cost-effective methods to redevelop their back catalogues for continued revenue. Taking this into account, the value of our services that we can offer to them becomes clear.
Born and partially raised on Moonbase Alpha, Jackie, as he was named by his Mother after his father Jack, is actually the only child to be born on the Moon. His mother got pregnant months after the moon was ripped from Earth's orbit. Unfortunately, Jackie never had the chance to meet his father, as he died under mysterious circumstances within a nuclear generating area around 2-3 months into Sue Crawfords pregnancy, 7 months prior to his birth.
As the first baby born on Alpha, his birth was obviously a joyous event for all of the Alphans. But it quickly turned disastrous when, just a few hours after his birth, Jackie was abducted by an fugitive alien soul, who took possession of his body, causing him to grow into a five years old child only minutes after his birth. To make matter worse, this alien possessed mind control power and attempted to take control of Moonbase Alpha and all its personnel with the intent of inhabiting their physical bodies (and thus hiding themselves from their pursuers within the bodies of many the Alphans) and killing the rest of those who would not be needed.
Fortunately, Jackie was returned back to normal as a newborn baby when another alien force arrived and took his alien abductor back to their spaceship. Jackies historic birth remains only a story for him as he doesn't recall any of these events. As a little boy and being the only child there he grew up alone on Moonbase Alpha. He was fortunate however to have the loving attention of everyone including the Commander of the base, John Koenig.
When he was 8 years old, he and all but one of the Alphans were forced to evacuate Alpha due to mysterious and devastating quakes. The Alphans relocated on a new world that was baptized as Terra Nova. Growing on this new and beautiful healthy world gave Jackie a more normal life. As other children started to be born and families were quickly multiplying in size for the first time since they had left the Moon, Jackie was surrounded by new friends, but he would always remain as the eldest of the children on Terra.
Always fascinated with astronomy and science he was able to learn from the best. In the years that have followed he helped build the new Terra base, a base that was composed of scientific laboratories and Aerospace technologies. He trained to become an astronaut and was part of the installation of their first orbital satellite around Terra.
Daughter of Dr. Helena Russell and Commander John Koenig, Juliet was born shortly after their arrival on Terra. As one of the first children of Terra, Juliet became a leader at an early age. She followed her mother steps in medicine and was very interested to be active in the field.
You could recognize her father stubbornness and focused mind in her. Even if she never knew her father, she knew that he was responsible for everyone's survival, as he was believed to have lost his life during the emergency evacuation of the Moon. She had a feeling that he was still alive somewhere in this universe. Now, 35 years old, she hasnt lost hope of seeing him again, but time made her focus on her life on Terra Nova.
Only recently her mother had become infected by an unknown disease, losing her memory and her mind. Juliet had no choice but to place her in a special care facility. Feeling powerless, with all her knowledge and science, she continued to do research until she could find a cure.
Daughter of Maya and Tony Vederschi, she was born on Terra Nova six years after her parents arrival on the Planet. She has a younger brother, Anthony Jr. who was born five years later. Alysse has her mother scientific mind, and her fathers temper. Her mother was an alien from a planet called Psychon, which was destroyed almost forty years ago. The only known survivor of her species, Maya was welcomed on Moonbase Alpha and found the Alphans to be her new adoptive family. Her knowledge and different abilities were crucial to Moonbase Alpha survival. She got attached to the Chief of Security, Tony Vederschi and together they had two children on Terra Nova.
Alysse mother had a very unique ability, being able to metamorph into other species and creatures. Taught by her father on Psychon, Maya often used this ability in dangerous situations. Alysse, who has the charm and intelligence of her mother, never had any indication that she had this unique talent, neither has Anthony Jr.
Both her parents disappeared 8 years ago, somewhere north of the Terra Nova city. For months and with all their technological resources to find them, the Terrans kept searching the entire planet. They were never found again, a tragedy that changed Alysse forever. She in turn kept her emotions buried inside her, and became seemingly unafraid of almost everything, looking for extreme challenges at every turn.
As one of the original survivors of Moonbase Alpha, Eva was assigned as a surface exploration team member. Her and her team were very close and she fell in love with her team leader Greg Sanderson. They all became ill with Green sickness (chlorosis) and they plotted a mutiny to take control of the Command Centre. Sanderson died because of his illness in a battle with John Koenig. The rest of the team were saved as was Eva.
But this experience left her heart bitter, deep inside. Behind her sweet tenderness for others, hides a much more troubled person who takes pleasure to infiltrate and control the minds of others. She chooses to come back to Moonbase Alpha with the intention of taking control of everyone destiny and to become the leader of the new Alphans. She also returned to Alpha to make sure that one of her deapest secret would never be revealed.
But not everyone on Alpha is blind to her, and some can see her true identity, which could very well put their life in more danger than they realize. n they realize.
Born in Australia, planet Earth, Alan has always been a very motivated person. Always looking to surpass himself, he became an astronaut and one of the first men to go to Mars. From his Eagle, he is the only one who actually saw the nuclear explosion create a wormhole, ripping the moon from Earth's orbit.
Devoted to his friend and colleagues, he decided to follow the moon through the wormhole, knowingly giving up his only chance of returning home, thus leaving Earth behind forever (or so he thought).
As the Chief pilot on Alpha, he was responsible to ensure that the management and security of every exploration mission to alien planets was well managed. An impulsive man in his time, he never liked wasting time always preferring action to inaction. He's straightforward personality who doesn't care for bureaucrats or politicians. He likes to take risks and to be in the front of the action. He's a man of great loyalty and respect for his command officer. In his personal life however, his charm and passion for the opposite sex has caused its share of problems.
After the evacuation of Moonbase Alpha to Terra, Alan led the new colony to create its new foundation on the planet. From locating the best region on the planet to settle, to building the city that would become their new home, Alan was involved in every aspect.
Not only it was his duty to make sure that every survivor would be safe, but it was also because he cared for each of them. When Helena's daughter was born, he made sure that she would have a father figure in him. He did the same with Jackie, who also didnt have a father. He always has felt a responsibility for John's loss, like it was his fault.
In January 2010 as a special thanks to his fans, Keith Wilson answered a few questions that were posted on our Facebook group page by fans. This segment was part of an interview made for the space 2099 project. This was the last known interview made with Mr. Wilson before his death in 2011.

I have been working on keeping the series Space: 1999 fresh and alive in our minds and hearts for more than a decade. The reason is that I believe it to be one of the most believable and daring science fiction series ever presented on television.
This blog is to give you an uncensored behind-the-scenes look of the work that I have been doing over the past years. I have learned a lot about the television business and its people ...and while it hasn't always been a fun ride, it has been interesting and I've come to know many great people through the show I love.
From my first encounter with the series up to the latest news with Space 2099... it will all be here.
